Do you want Christmas lights without electricity? What if you need a Santa hat for your chicken? Well then, this pattern is perfect for you!

This is a great project for scraps of colorful yarn you have left over from your other projects. You will need about 8 or 9 yards for each bulb, plus a yard of the bulb end color. Any weight of yarn will do—that will determine the size of your lights. Gauge isn’t really important, just make sure your fabric is dense enough not to show the stuffing.

The little hats use just a few yards of yarn. Try doing stripes if you want an elfish hat, and don’t forget a little yarn for the pom pom and brim.

Have fun!
