The Rolo Slombo is a bolster shaped pillow which you can knit up in almost no time! Victorians used bolsters like this hung over the back of parlour chairs, or for travelling pillows—the cord made it easy to hang over your arm walking to or from carriage or train.

This is reworked/rewritten from a Victorian design.

GAUGE: not critical. My Rolo Slombo is about 16 inches long and 6 inches diameter.

MATERIALS
4 colours of #4 Aran weight yarn. I used 4 colours of Red Heart Super Saver and Bernat Super Value yarns—approximately 1 ounce of each colour in red, gold, blue, and green for the stripes and a little extra for the cord.

5mm straight knitting needles

7mm crochet hook for the chain cord; 5mm crochet hook if you want to leave an opening with buttons.

Also needed: a yarn bodkin/needle for sewing strips together. Polyester fibre or other material, if you are stuffing the bolster. If you prefer to make a cloth bolster pillow to insert into the knitted cover, you will need suitable cotton or other fabric. If you want to make the cover so it opens, you will need 2 buttons—this is the method I worked, and I used mismatched 1 inch buttons from my button box.
