Christmas Mood
Christmas Mood is a festive multicolor crochet pattern featuring Christmas lights and ornaments, with diagonal stitches adding an extra element of challenge. The pattern includes both Overlay Mosaic Crochet and Interlocking Filet Crochet, with separate instructions for each technique.
Both solid and non-solid versions are included. In the solid version, the background is filled with rows of dc stitches worked side by side, while the non-solid version has a mesh-like appearance.
The design offers many color possibilities. The lights and Christmas decorations can be worked in additional colors using intarsia, without cutting the yarn. The corresponding stitches are highlighted in the pattern. Three coloring pages are included to help you plan your color combination.
You can also make the entire design in just two colors by ignoring the additional color-change notes.
You can work the blanket from the bottom up, either with the border included or with the border added separately in the round.
Finished Size:
Without border: 231 × 295 sts / 114 × 146 windows
With border: 243 × 307 sts / 121 × 153 windows
The pattern does not include a blanket worked in the round from the center, due to the complexity of color changes in the first rounds.
Skill level: Advanced
The pattern includes written instructions, printable charts, step-by-step photos, and links to video tutorials.
Yarn & Gauge
Yarn: Sport weight, e.g. Scheepjes Stone Washed (50 g / 130 m / 142 yds)
Hook: 3.25–3.5 mm, or size needed to meet gauge
Gauge: 11 sts × 11 rows = 5 cm (2”) in pattern
Approximate yarn amounts for the solid version, without the border:
C1: ~2,590 m / 2,832 yds
C2: ~2,510 m / 2,745 yds
Lights: ~140 m / 153 yds
Baubles / decorations: ~170 m / 186 yds
The non-solid version requires less background yarn. The border requires approximately 290 m / 317 yds of C1 and 300 m / 328 yds of C2.
Yarn amounts are approximate and will vary with yarn, hook size, and tension.
