This pattern is easier than it looks. The star is made in two halves on single-pointed needles, then the halves are sewn together around the edges, with some filling in between. Instructions for knitting in the round are not included here, but the pattern is simple enough to be converted easily to this method.

The stars shown in the photos here were made with Ritz yarn - 97% acrylic, 3% lurex. This is now discontinued, but similar chunky/bulky weight yarns are readily available. Only a few scraps of yarn are needed - about 14m/15 yards in total.

Several stars can be quickly made to grace your Christmas tree, or to hang up in windows. They also make great handbag charms!
