This placemat and its snowflake coaster companion are a quick and easy project, perfect for a lasthour gift or for a evening of stitching.

The pattern uses basic stitches:

  • chain
  • single crochet
  • double crochet
  • treble crochet
  • surface slip stitch to embellish

The surface slip stitch is made with mouliné (3 strands) and 1 metallic thread DMC Diamant. Red mouliné with gold Diamant, white mouliné with silver Diamant.

The placemat is worked in two stages: first we’ll work the triangle in dc. Then we’ll attach the contrast color at the base of triangle and we’ll work the parallelogram section.

3mm hook, 8/4 cotton yarn like Rainbow from Hobbii (alternative: Scheepjes Cotton 8, Drops Safran).
1 ball per color.

2,5mm hook, mouliné and metallic threads for surface slip stitch.

Model is stitched with Rainbow 8/4 red, white, green.

No special stitches are required for these placemats but you can decorate the triangle section with surface slip stitch as you prefer: free your fantasy and experiment what your creativity suggests to you !
