Chubby Baby Pigeon
Pigeons seem to be much maligned these days, but they are at the heart of some of my early childhood memories and play such a big part in our world.
They come in all kinds of colours, shapes and sizes, but this plushie is a little ode to the classic London pigeon I grew up feeding by hand in parks and squares across the city.
This is a beginner-friendly pattern (although it can be tricky working with fluffy yarn if you’re unpractised) as all the stitches and construction is fairly simple.
It’s also an easy low-sew pattern, and is ridiculously quick to make!
You’ll largely be working in continuous rounds so you will need to use stitch markers to help you keep track of your stitch count.
And there’s a detailed photo guide to help demonstrate the techniques used and any special stitches.
When complete, your bird should measure just under 10cm in height and 12.5cm in length, depending on your chosen yarn and how tightly you crochet.
You’ll need minimal amounts of each colour (less than 50g / 80m of yarn in total) so it’s a great little stash buster!
This pattern’s a great way to use up scraps and leftovers because it’s so small so don’t worry if the yarns you use are not exactly the same weight!
