Chubby Kiwi Bird
This is a reversible Kiwi bird that was inspired by https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/reversible-kiwi-... this pattern.
This can be made with any gauge and hook size. I made this with worsted weight yarn and a 5.25 mm crochet hook
You need yarn in colors:
- Dark brown
- Light brown
- Green
- White
- Black
Additional materials are:
- Safety eyes (I used 12mm)
- Scissors
- Crochet hook (obviously)
Here is the Pattern:
In Dark Brown
R1: 6 SC in MR (6)
R2: INC around (12)
R3-4: SC around (12)
R5: SC 7, switch to Light Brown, CH 5, SLST 4 down the CH starting in the 2nd CH from the hook, after SLST switch back to Dark Brown, SC 5
Put safety eyes between R4 and R5
R6-7: SC around (12)
R8: (SC, INC) repeat around (18)
R9: (SC 2, INC) repeat around (24)
R10: (SC 3, INC) repeat around (30)
R11: (SC 4, INC) repeat around (36)
R12: (SC 5, INC) repeat around (42)
R13-16: SC around (42)
Stuff head
R17: SC 19, switch to Light Brown, CH 6, (DC 2, SLST) repeat 3 times all in the 2nd CH from hook, SLST in first DC, SLST 4 down the CH, switch to Dark Brown, SC 11, repeat from * to * again, SC 12 (42 SC + 2 legs)
R18: (SC 5, DEC) repeat around (36)
Switch to Green
R19: in BLO, (SC 4, DEC) repeat around (30)
R20: (SC 3, DEC) repeat around (24)
Stuff body
R21: (SC 2, DEC) repeat around (18)
R22: (SC 1, DEC) repeat around (12)
Switch to White
R23: DEC around (6)
FO and close hole, weave in ends
With Black sew the Kiwi seeds onto R20, 10 seeds (each about 2 stitches apart)
