The Chunky Checker Headband pattern is knitted flat using straight needles and measures approximately 10cm/4” in width when blocked. The pattern is created by an 8 row repeat that is easily remembered. It is an excellent pattern for beginners. If you can do a knit stitch and a purl stitch, you will be able to knit this headband.

Materials
6mm needles
Tapestry needle
55m/60yds (approx) Chunky/bulky yarn or worsted weight held double

If you use the 2 strands of worsted weight yarn held together, you will get a very warm and heavy duty headband. It will keep those ears warm on the coldest of days. (I used 2 strands of Soft Donegal from Studio Donegal in shade 2Bc5519 - the blue/grey headband pictured)

If you choose to knit the headband with a single strand of chunky yarn, you will get a lovely soft and stretchy headband that will work really well on cooler Autumn days. (I used Hayfield Bonus Chunky in shade Pink.)
