This scarf is chunky and oversized for maximum warmth. It is tapered at the ends and finished off with tassels, which give it a fun and unique look, and make it super easy to tuck the ends in, if preferred. It is also super versatile, because it can be worn simply wrapped around the neck once, or the ends can be twisted and wrapped several times, really showing off the colorblocking.

I have named this design ‘The Knocklayd,’ after a mountain which sits nearby my place of birth, in Northern Ireland. It isn’t the largest by any stretch, but from the top it’s pretty “blustery,” requiring a snuggly, warm scarf… just like the one this pattern will give you!

The scarf is sized to fit adults, measuring a whopping 96 inches in length, but don’t let that put you off -- it works up super quick. The pattern is suitable for beginners, with basic crocheting knowledge, and is written in standard US terms.

I love helping others get creative, and so I offer free support via email, should you need help with any aspect of the making process. You can also tag me #WeeYarnDIY on social media to share your creations with our community of makers.
