Chunky Dragon Pillow
Learn how to make your own huge, chunky dragon as big as a pillow with this digital crochet pattern.
The Chunky Dragon Pillow Pattern comes with a 38-page PDF document in full color with detailed instructions and tons of large, clear photos -- including helpful graphics. You’ll also find a handy list of all the materials needed to make the monsters in the photo (yeti and forest guardian). The Chunky Dragon Pillow Pattern is written in English using standard US crochet terminology.
- You WILL need to sew to make this pattern. Some small parts can be glued on such as the eyes, nostrils, and pupils.
- Pattern DOES NOT come with safety eye instructions
- Pattern DOES include color-change instructions for the belly -- no you DO NOT have to sew all those ends in though!

To make this Chunky Dragon Pillow Pattern, you’ll need the following materials:
o Size 6 super bulky weight Chenille aka “plush” or blanket yarn. This pattern was written for Premier Parfait Plush yarn. Amounts and colors used to make the pink version of the dragon using Parfait Plush are listed below:
o Premier: Parfait Plush
MC Bubblegum (Medium Pink): Used for the main body. You’ll need around 520 yds. (3 skeins)
CC 1 Cotton Candy (Light Pink): Used for belly and horns. You’ll need around 150 yds. (1 skein)
CC 2 Hot Pink (Magenta): used for the belly and small details. You’ll need around 100 yds. (1 skein)
CC 3 Spearmint (Teal): used for the eyes and wings. You’ll need around 100 yds. (1 skein)
CC 4 White: used for the claws. You’ll need around 50 yds. (less than half of 1 Crochet Hooks:
o 7.00mm crochet hook or whatever is needed to achieve the correct gauge for the main body
o 6.50mm hook for the wings and face details
o Tapestry needle
o 6” square of black craft felt (for the pupils of the eyes)
o 4” square of white craft felt (for the highlights of the eyes)
o Pins and/or stitch markers (or some other way to pin separate pieces together while sewing — such as “ami-sticks” or knitting needles.)
o Polyester Stuffing (approx. one 20 oz bag)
Pattern Skill Level: Intermediate. Beginners are not recommended for this project due to the amount of sewing involved, as well as all the construction needed to create the wings.
Size Info: with size 6 yarn and 7.00mm hook, dragon is 34” long and 25” circumference around the belly.
