So many of us have lots of worsted weight Red Heart yarn lying around not knowing what project to use it for next. But now you can make warm, chunky knitted hats with it!

This pattern is one size for adults, and fits most adult heads. The pattern is also for a SINGLE COLORED hat.

The gauge for this pattern is 3 stitches = 1 inch.

In this PDF pattern, I outline how to make chunky weight yarn out of medium weight yarn in just a few easy steps. I include pictures as well. This pattern knits up very fast (I have made 2-3 hats in one day using this pattern!) and is super fun to do since it’s so quick.

The skill level is easy, however you need to know how to knit in the round and do simple decreases (like knitting 2 together). It also requires some concentration on learning how to make the chunky yarn. But once you get the hang of it, it’s super easy and knits up fast.
