Unique to this crochet pattern is the stitch used. I believe I have invented it, as I cannot find it anywhere. There are detailed written instructions on how to make the stitch.

The same stitch will give you three different styles, depending on where you insert the crochet hook. Instructions included for five sizes, ranging from baby to large adult, perfect for making matching hats for the family photo! This hat pattern is made using super bulky yarn, so not only is it unbelievably thick and warm, but it can be crocheted in about an hour.

Materials used in the pattern are Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick yarn (less than one skein for adult size); however, any super bulky #6 weight yarn can be used, US size N (10mm) crochet hook, yarn needle and scissors. Optional faux fur or yarn pom pom can be attached.

The skill level is Advanced beginner/intermediate, and the detailed instructions include photos for clarification of stitch placement for each of the three styles, as well as a photo tutorial for the invisible round join. The brim is worked in vertical rows and joined together, and then the body of the hat is worked in horizontal rounds from the bottom to the top.
