This pattern was designed to be loom knitted using a bulky (5) yarn on a large gauge loom. The cowl is knitted flat and the ends tied together, and so can be knitted on either a round loom or long loom. The 31-peg red Knifty Knitter round loom was used in the original. The figure-8 and the yarn over/knit 2 together will cause the work to slant, so that your finished item will show the bands of garter stitch on a diagonal without using increases or decreases. Yarn Bee Calcutta in colorway ‘Tiger Eyes’ was used. The yarn tails will unravel into individual threads, giving the finished item a rustic fringe. I used 1.5 skeins of yarn.

Materials in addition to yarn:

  • large gauge loom
  • knitting tool
  • measuring tape
  • scissors
  • crochet hook (optional, but helpful)
