From the pattern:

My grandmother used to make these slippers for the whole family. She always made us feel special by individualizing them with different embellishments -- embroidery, tassels, buttons, etc. We mostly wore them at the cabin. The nights were cold and so were the beds. Gram would put large rocks in the oven of the wood-burning stove. When we were ready to go to bed, she would take a hot rock, wrap it in newspaper, and slip each rock between the sheets in our beds. Together with the slippers, our feet stayed warm and cozy.

Materials:

  • 1 skein Brown Sheep Lamb’s Pride
  • US 9 straight needles, or size to give gauge
  • Tapestry needle
  • Embellishments (optional)
