The Cill Rónáin Socks are the 3rd pattern in my Connemara Collection. A series of designs inspired by the Connemara region of western Ireland.
This design is named for the village just past the ferry docks on Inishmore, the largest of the Aran Isles.

When visiting Inishmore the abundance of glorious squishy cable knitted pieces in the shops is so dreamy. Famous for their beautiful traditional knitted sweaters, you need only look for a moment before you can feast your eyes on cable knitted heaven.

I wanted to bring those cabled themes into the next piece in the collection.
The construction is top down and they feature a flap and gusset heel.
A ribbed cuff gives way to a band of garter that transitions into simple but engaging cables running the length of the foot and leg capped by a half lateral braid at the toe. The calf, and heel, are textured in seed stitch.

They are knitted in fingering weight yarn, on size US 2/2.75 mm needles, and are sized Teen through adult large.

My sample is knitted in Jamieson and Smith 2ply jumper weight, in undyed natural white.

The classic design with a few fun twists make these the perfect addition to any sock drawer!
