Cinquefoil Socks
The Cinquefoil Socks were inspired by Gothic tracery, which happened to be the logo of my old school (“the Semi”). Because of this, they are dear to my heart—as they are to many of my friends. However, the motif itself is beautiful regardless of personal associations. The explanation above also justifies the suggested yarn colours (for 1MC+1CC), but of course, you can use any colour you like.
The idea of starting a sock around the heel and using this construction method to showcase unique motifs is not my own. I was inspired by the socks of Cita Steinmeier (https://www.ravelry.com/designers/cita-steinmeier). I immediately knew I wanted to create something similar using this particular motif.
It wasn’t easy to divide a five-part motif across a six-part pattern—if you know what I mean—but I think I did a good job in the end (even if it took a bit of test knitting). This is also the first pattern I’ve ever created, so I’d be very grateful for any feedback or advice!
