Ciro Sweater
-
The Ciro Sweater is worked top-down. It begins with a provisional cast-on for the upper back yoke, which is worked flat from the bottom up with decreases to shape the shoulder slopes. Stitches are then picked up along the slopes to work the right and left shoulder separately, back and forth. The shoulder panels are joined to work the front yoke down in one piece. Once front and back are complete, stitches are cast on for the underarms, and the body is worked in the round to the hem. The hem is divided into front and back sections and finished back and forth in 1x1 ribbing to form side slits. Stitches are picked up along the armhole edge to work the sleeves in the round and a slit is created on each ribbed sleeve cuff. The neckline is finished with a folded 1x1 ribbing band.

The brown sweater in the photo is made with Como col.48M & Premia col.48 by Lamana SIZE M.
Sizes:
XS / S / M / L / XL / 2XL / 3XL / 4XL / 5XL
The Ciro Sweater has an oversized fit and is designed to have approx. 20 cm 8 in of positive ease, with slightly reduced ease in larger sizes to ensure a more comfortable fit. This means the garment’s measurements will be approx. 20 cm 8 in larger than your actual bust circumference.
The sizes XS / S / M / L / XL / 2XL / 3XL / 4XL / 5XL are designed to fit a bust circumference of 80-85 / 85-90 / 90-95 / 95-100 / 100-110 / 110-120 / 120-130 / 130-140 / 140-150 cm 31½-33½ / 33½-35½ / 35½-37½ / 37½-39½ / 39½-43¼ / 43¼-47¼ / 47¼-51¼ / 51¼-55 / 55-59 in.
Before you begin, measure yourself to determine the right size. For example, if your bust circumference is 92 cm 36¼ in, you should knit a size M. If you are between sizes, choose the size based on how loose you prefer the garment to fit. Using the diagram with the finished garment measurements can be a helpful reference when deciding which size to select.

Circumference:
106 / 112 / 116 / 121 / 127 / 139 / 148 / 158 / 168 cm

Suggested yarn:
Filcolana (worked with two strands throughout the process):
350 / 350 / 350 / 400 / 450 / 450 / 500 / 500 / 550 g Pernilla by Filcolana 50 g = 175 m 191 yds & 150 / 150 / 150 / 175 / 175 / 200 / 200 / 225 / 225 g Tilia by Filcolana 25 g = 210 m 230 yds.
Lamana (worked with two strands throughout the process):
250 / 275 / 300 / 325 / 350 / 375 / 400 / 425 / 450 g Como by Lamana 25 g = 120 m 131 yds & 100 / 125 / 125 / 150 / 150 / 150 / 175 / 175 / 200 g Premia by Lamana 25 g = 300 m 328 yds.
Yarn alternatives:
This design is worked holding wool together with silk mohair. When choosing an alternative wool, look for 100% wool yarns that hold their shape well — ideally a 3-ply sport/DK weight.
Lamana Como belongs to the SUPERLIGHT collection: due to the special spinning technology, the yarn is ultralight and has higher meterage, but still gives the same volume as a classic wool when held together with mohair. If you want to replace Como, make sure your yarn produces the same volume in fabric.
If you prefer a more traditional woolly look, choose a classic plied wool similar to Filcolana Pernilla with approx. 175 m 191 yds/ 50 g, combined with silk mohair.
