Like cirrus clouds, this little scarf is soft, wispy, and lighter than air when knit with a fluffy lace weight yarn. The scarf is knit with a combination of cables and lace in one piece, from one end straight through to the other. The pattern nicely makes its own edge and end points, and won’t curl even before blocking because of the combination of knit and purl stitches.

This is an intermediate lace pattern.

Sizes: One size: 8 x 54 inches (20.3 x 137 cm).

Skills: Lace knitting, cables, YO.

Other supplies: Cable needle recommended, unless you can make cables without one. Lifelines and stitch markers are optional.

Stitch patterns: Charted and written.

Model: Model knit with Douceur et Soie from Knit One Crochet Two, in Smoke.

Alternate yarn: Any lace or light fingering weight yarn would work just fine. Alternate lace weight yarns include: Elann’s Silken Kydd, Rowan’s KidSilk Haze. Thicker yarns may yield a slightly larger stole, depending on resulting gauge.
