City Mile Cap

Great for a cold spring morning as you walk to your favorite coffee shop or for a chilly evening spent around a campfire in the woods with friends. The decorative lace flower at the crown keeps you warm in a brisk wind while playfully hinting at the spring flowers soon to come.
The cap is worked bottom-up in the round in one piece using 3.5 mm (US 4) needles and a DK / Worsted weight yarn. DK yarn will result in a lighter more breathable cap while Worsted yarn will give you a thicker and warmer finish. The cap is designed with negative easy to fit snuggly on your noggin and to maintain its shape through seasons of wear. Sewing the double folded brim together at the end is optional.

Fit
Fit is designed for an average adult head. The cap is designed with 3.5” negative ease to feel nice and snug. Choose your size based on a measurement of your head around the temples. If you’re in between sizes choose the bigger of the two sizes. Cap pictured is size M. Sydney has a head circumference of 55 cm / 21.5”.

Needles
3.5 mm (US 4) circular needle, 9 cm / 3.5” in length with a 40 cm / 16” cable (use a cable at least 50 cm / 20” in length if using magic loop technique).

3.5 mm (US 4) DPNs, 15 – 20 cm / 8 – 10” long.
Gauge
20 sts x 32 rnds = 10 cm / 4” in 1x1 rib st on 3.5 mm (US 4) needles, after blocking.
You may need to go down one or two needle sizes to achieve gauge. Stitch gauge is more important than round gauge.

6 removable stitch markers and a tapestry needle.
Mohair Option
The cap can be worked holding 1 strand of mohair and 1 strand of wool together. If you’re using a DK yarn you can hold 2 strands of mohair and 1 strand of DK together to go up to a Worsted weight thickness (check gauge before committing).
