This Zauberball cardigan with its long color repeats is worked in an easy V stitch pattern – no question where to insert the hook using this stitch! A classic design with no buttons; falls just above the hip. Of course, you could make it longer (a tunic) or shorter (cropped) by adjusting the length to the underarm.

GAUGE: Work a sample swatch to determine the gauge. Ch 25 and work 4 or 5 rows as follows:

Foundation Row: Working into the 4th chain from hook, dc, ch1, dc (makes 1 V). Skip 2 ch, dc, ch 1, dc in next ch (V), skip 2 ch; repeat from, end with 1 dc in last ch. Turn. (7 V stitches).

All other rows: Ch 3, * dc, ch 1, dc in V stitch of the previous row (another V), repeat from * across row. End with a dc in the turning chain of the last row. Turn.
When measuring your swatch, measure just inside your ch 3 which begins your row. Your swatch should measure 4” across. If it doesn’t, adjust your hook size.
