This download includes 2 different patterns for Claire’s Cowl from season 1 of Outlander. The Basic Cowl, and the Seed Stitch Cowl. Each pattern uses different yarn and different needle sizes.

Skill Level: Beginner/Basic Knitter. This pattern only requires basic knitting skills and pattern reading skills. You’ll need to know how to knit, purl, cast on, bind off, and how to stitch up the ends.

Sizing: These cowls are one size fits most. There are also notes to make smaller or larger in pattern.

Supplies for Basic Cowl:

2 Skeins of Lion Brand Wool Ease Bulky
Thick n Quick Yarn, or any Super Bulky
(6) yarn . Yarn will be held doubled.

1 pair of knitting needles US size 35 (19mm), straight or interchangeable

1 Large eye tapestry needle for weaving in ends.

Supplies for Seed Stitch Cowl:

3 Skeins of Madelinetosh A.S.A.P. yarn (single ply 100% Merino Wool) or Malabrigo Rasta (single ply 100% Merino Wool), 90yds per skein (270 total yards).

1 set US size 13 (19mm) knitting needles. You can use either straight or interchangeable cable needles.

1 Large eye tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
