The Clare Tee is a top-down raglan short-sleeved top knit completely in the round and without seams. It is knit mostly in stockinette stitch with garter stitch borders.

This pattern uses increases, optional decreases, knit, and purl in the round. It is suitable for a beginner knitter. Abbreviations are used, with glossary included. Both Imperial and Metric System measurements are included.

Note that the underbust / waist decreases are optional and have been modified after the navy blue sample was created. Yarn estimates include the decreases; working straight will use more yarn.

Yarns & notions
Worsted weight / 10-ply (#4) yarn: approximately
201 (237, 270, 304, 340) 376, 407, 450, 483 grams,
402 (473, 540, 609, 679) 751, 814, 901, 965 yards,
367 (433, 494, 557, 621) 687, 744, 824, 883 meters.
Sample used approx 2.4 skeins of Encore Worsted (25% wool / 75% acrylic; 200 yards / 183 meters / 100 grams per skein) in the color Navy Blue.

US 11 / 8.0 mm (or the size you need to get gauge) circular needles, 16” / 40 cm and 32” / 80 cm lengths.
2 stitch holders or scrap yarn.
8 stitch markers, including one in a different color for BOR.

Gauge
13 sts and 21 rounds in 4” / 10 cm, blocked.

I used size US 11 / 8.0 mm needles. I knit very loosely so I would recommend trying US 12 or 13. Be sure to use whatever size needle gets gauge. The number of sts per inch is more important than rounds per inch because length is easily customizable, although differences in gauge may change the angle of the raglan shaping.
