Claremont Socks
The Claremont socks are perfectly elegant while also being incredibly intuitive. A very simple and easy to memorize cable pattern flows seamlessly into a squishy rib texture.
I was looking for a simple to knit, ribbed texture pattern that would work for a person of any gender so I originally designed these as a gift for my brother. The ribbing makes this an ideal pattern for a gift knit as the sizing is very forgiving.
You will need:
-400 yards for the MC (sample used Knit Picks Stroll Tweed in Flagstone Heather)
-approximately 109 yards for the CC for heels toes and cuffs (sample used Cascade 220 Superwash Fingering in Black)
I wrote this up as only a 64 stitch count sock, but the pattern is easily adaptable to any larger or smaller size with a multiple of four. I also used a shallow heel flap and gusset but you could easily substitute any heel of your choice.
