Using the Classic Family Hat by John Crane as a starting point, we refreshed this pattern using new yarns and a slightly simplified approach.

Helical knitting creates stripes in a spiral, eliminating jogs and looks great in closely matching subtle colors, or bold contrasts. This pattern was originally featured in Volume 11 of the skacel magalog.
