When I first started to drive it was in a mini – a classic mini that is – I’m old enough that the BMW version hadn’t arrived at that time!
My first car was a Mini Clubman Estate. I loved Minis, it was like driving a go-kart. I couldn’t resist knitting a Classic Mini inspired Cushion. My Dad has helped me with the design (we thought that such a classic British car had to fly the flag). This pattern is the result so now you can make your own Mini inspired cushion!
The finished cushion measures 40cm/16 inches square and if you’d like to knit your own this is what you’ll need:
1 pair 4mm knitting needles
Approximately 190 grams (570 metres/615 yards) of Double Knitting weight yarn.
I used five colours:
60g/180 m/194 yds Navy Blue
40g/120 m/130 yds Red
25g/75 m/81 yds Grey
20g/60 m/ 65 yds Denim Blue
45g/135 m /145 yds White
and a tiny amount of Orange for the indicators.
5 x 2.5cm/1 inch buttons (you also have an options to crochet covers for the buttons. For this you’ll need a 4mm crochet hook.)
1 x 40cm/16 inch cushion pad.
I’m based in the UK so my patterns are all written in English using UK terminology.
The pattern includes colour charts as well as written instructions.
