Classic Twisted Ear Warmer
Inspired by the 40-Pin Sentro twisted ear warmers floating around on Youtube and Etsy. While sentros can easily make a crafter’s life easier, they are rather picky about what you use with them. If you’re anything like me, you have a lot of Red Heart worsted weight acrylic laying around that you want to use up. However….Sentros only like really soft, lighter weight yarn, thus defeating the purpose of stash busting.
This pattern is designed to mimic the original width, length and style of the classic twisted Sentro ear warmer, without going through the pain of getting a sentro to agree with you.
If you are a beginner or just have a lot of partial skeins or just one skein of a color, this pattern is a fall/winter staple accessory for those chilly days.
Example Colors:
- Red Heart Super Savers Prints “Fall”
- Red Heart Super Savers Prints “Mulberry Mix”
- Loops and Threads Impeccable “Pale Gray”
Each ear warmer takes roughly 80 grams in total using worsted weight yarn, but wrote down 100 to be safe.
Gauge: 4.5 stitches per 1” in the round.
Needles required: US 7/4.5 mm 16” circular knitting needles + 8” double pointed needles of the same size for the cast off.
* use whatever needle size needed to achieve gauge
Other required tools:
- Crochet hook matching your needle size
- Stitch markers (locking and ring)
- Waste yarn for a provisional cast-on (preferably in a contrast color)
- Tapestry Needle
- Scissors/Snips
- Flexible Measuring Tape
This pattern is for private use only. Do not reproduce, share, or distribute in form, in whole or in part.
