In the film adaptation of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Galadriel gives each remaining member of the Fellowship a gift before leaving Lothlórien. The gifts are vital to the characters they are given to as the Fellowship begins to break up into smaller groups, and in some cases like Frodo, the gift saves his life. Legolas is given a Galadhrim bow strung with Elf hair and arrows; Merry and Pippin are bequeathed daggers; Aragorn a sheath for his sword that makes it unbreakable; Frodo the Light of Eärendil—the Elves’ most treasured star; Gimli receives three strands of Galadriel’s hair—the most beautiful creature he’s ever seen; Sam is given rope—an essential tool while traversing the mountains to Mordor; and because she knows his fate, Boromir receives nothing. In addition to these gifts, the Fellowship is also gifted boats, Lembas Bread, and camouflaged cloaks gathered at the neck with a Lórien leaf clasp depicting beech tree leaves.

Inspired by the Elven leaf broaches given by Galadriel, these socks will allow you to bring a bit of Lothlórien to your needles. Worked identically in the round from the cuff down using the Magic Loop method, the socks begin with a 2x2 rib. A Lórien leaf-shaped cable motif grows on a background of reverse stockinette on the front and back of the leg, gently turning into stockinette before the Fleegle heel is turned. The toes are grafted together for a seamless join.
