This pattern started as a challenge from dyer Sati Glenn of Rows & Roses. She said that her yarn was truly randomly dyed and I set out to create a pattern that would showcase her beautiful color palette. Techno Sport is truly random!

Random-dyed yarns can be difficult to showcase because the eye wants a place to focus. Quite often, the fabric appears ‘muddy’ because the colors compete with each other.

Long splashes of color in a contour pattern showcase the beautiful colors in the random pattern using the Gestalt principle of alignment. A complementary color pin provides an additional focal point.

This pattern is a great opportunity to use your interchangeable needle kits. Fourteen (14) needles, increasing in size, create the trapezoid shape. Be sure to use the metric, not US sizes as US sizes are not standardized.
