Cloudy Sky Stroller Cover
This is a small covering curtain for the front of a baby carriage / stroller / pram / buggy / pushchair that features a simple and beautiful filet crochet pattern of clouds.
It was originally available on a now-discontinued blog, but is still available for free through the publisher’s Facebook page, so I have transferred it here for posterity.
Translation of the pattern was done digitally; I do not speak Finnish.

Pattern design: Terhi Viinikanoja
6-ply Liina crochet cotton
2 mm crochet hook or according to your tension
5 shower curtain rings
Tapestry needle for finishing
Finished size: width 55 cm, height 51.5 cm.
The work is made using a technique called filet crochet, where groups of chain stitches and double crochets form a grid, and the pattern is created by filling some of the squares with double crochets.
Chain 165.
Row 1: Make a double crochet into the sixth chain from the hook. Chain 1 and skip one chain. Make 1 dc, ch 1, skip one chain. Repeat the double crochet and chain stitch, skip-one method to the end of the row, ending with a double crochet.
Check that the work now contains 80 open squares and make any needed corrections. Chain 4, turn.
Row 2: The 4 chains you just made form the first double crochet and chain stitch of the row. Make the next double crochet into the far edge of the square from the previous row, in the same place as the previous row’s double crochet. Continue crocheting the squares on top of the squares from Row 1 (dc, ch 1, skip).
Rows 3 and 4: same as Row 2.
Row 5: Follow the chart pattern (Row 1 is the bottom row) and, in the squares where the blue design appears, make a double crochet into the chain-space arch of the previous row instead of making a chain stitch.
Continue following the chart until the decreases begin. At that point, leave the first square of each row unworked so that instead of beginning with turning-chain 4, begin the row directly with a double crochet starting from the second-to-last square of the previous row. Check occasionally to make sure the number of squares remains correct.
Finish the work.
Finally, crochet 60-chain ties onto both edges at the points where the decreases began. Weave in all yarn ends.
Dampen the work and press flat. Block if necessary. Attach to the baby carriage using shower curtain rings threaded through the mesh openings.
Liina 6-ply crochet cotton: 2650 m / 500 g
Finished work weight: 210 g
