Next to our house is a beautiful field of clover. It is mainly grown to feed cattle and looks stunning in the summer with little tufts of clover standing proud of the foliage and grass. The clover field is surrounded by damson trees, blackberry bushes, hawthorns and a few apple trees. In the spring the hawthorns provide me with the most amazing blossom for the house but at the end of the summer I take my basket and collect the fruit to make ‘hedgerow jelly’ that we use throughout the winter.

This pretty little cowl is inspired by the field and is just the perfect accessory for your winter wardrobe! An interesting textured stitch surrounds a main body of basket weave making this a quick and easy pattern, but most definitely not a boring one, to both knit and wear.

Knit in a worsted weight yarn it is warm and cosy but not too bulky. The width of the cowl can be adjusted by casting on fewer or additional multiples of twelve stitches and the length can be adjusted by repeating the centre basket weave pattern fewer or additional times.

The pattern includes chart and full written instructions.
