Cluaran Cowl features an original two-color brioche stitch pattern that makes use of dramatic increases and decreases to form a rich allover ground of thistles. A plain cast-on and bind-off allow the brioche to shine and outline the decorative scalloped edges. The cowl is a quick, addictive knit that uses little yarn, making this timeless and regal accessory suitable as a wardrobe accent or a gift.

Pattern has been tech edited and tested.

Yarn: Malabrigo Yarn Sock (light fingering; 100% superwash merino wool; 440 yd/100g): MC: Turner, 1 skein CC: Persia, 1 skein

Needles: One circular needle, 24”-36” long, US 4 (3.5 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge

Notions: Stitch markers, tapestry needle, rustproof pins, blocking mats

The cowl is knit in the round from the bottom up.
The size of the cowl can be easily adjusted by worked additional or fewer repeats. CO number should be a multiple of 12. Rnds 3-22 is a full vertical repeat.
The sample shown used approximately 175 yd of each color.
Brioche abbreviations vary widely; reading through the Special Stitches section is highly recommended.
