I really hope you love making and wearing The Clueless Top!
Named after the movie, Clueless, The Clueless Top is knitted bottom up in my favourite stitch, stocking stitch (in the round). Knitting this top is so simple, you can easily work it up whilst watching TV or sitting on the train!
This top is super customisable in terms of length and colour AND there are many strap options meaning that your piece will be totally unique! There are instructions in the pattern on where to place the straps, but if you would like to change the strap position please just bind off all your stitches at the top of your garment and add the straps later after trying it on!
This is a scrappy project, so please use whatever yarn you have in your stash!
You can knit this top up in either 2 strands of double knitting (DK) weight yarn held together OR you can use any other yarn that gets you the same gauge.

Have so much fun, and please show me once you’re done!!

Ease

The garment has been designed to have between -2 and +2 inches of ease, meaning that it will be relatively fitted. Check your bust measurement before deciding what size to knit. If you would like the top to be tighter fitting please go down a size.

Tension:
Hold both strands together: In stocking stitch, with 5.5mm needles worked in the round…
10 stitches= 7cm/ 2.75 inches (width)
10 rows= 6cm/ 2.3 inches (length)

Materials:
Size 5.5mm circular needles with an 80cm cord - If you do not have this length you could use a shorter cord; or a longer (and use the magic loop method).
Please size up or down on the needles to get the correct gauge.
5.5mm double pointed needles incase you would prefer to use these for the i-cord/straps (I used my circular needles for the entire project)
5.5mm crochet hook if you decide to make a crochet chain for the straps
Some test knitters found that to get the gauge they needed 6mm needles Please check the gauge and change your needles if necessary
BOR stitch marker
2 Stitch Markers for strap placement
Stitch holder or scrap yarn to hold stitches if you decide to hold stitches for the I-cord straps
Darning needle to weave in the ends (if you can be bothered) and to sew on your straps

Yarn amounts
Because this pattern is a stash buster and different types of yarn can be heavier than others (eg. cotton is heavier than merino) it is quite tricky to get an approximate yarn amount for this pattern. Please use measurements below as a guide.
Double knitting yarn held together: 150-600grams.
