“A rising tide lifts all boats” is a phrase often used by John F Kennedy (though he did not actually come up with it). I think this phrase a lot when I hear people make the argument that they are suffering because someone else is succeeding.
It’s the phrase I thought of when I got a text from an indie dyer friend asking me to create a design for a group of indie dyers. Their goal was to make a project as a collective instead of competing against each other. I loved this so much that I said yes before I really knew what I was getting myself into!
In just two months, ten indie dyers, a graphic designer, a notions artist and a designer have come together to create this shawl, Co-opereight. One of the things I love the most about this project is that any five of the ten colors could be worked together and look lovely. I hope you feel the collaborative spirit of this pattern as you knit it and know that we are thankful for you, our community.“
