Coast and Dunes
Coast and Dunes was inspired by the memories of an East Coast vacation. Watching the tides rolling in over the sandy beaches, to the coastal dunes. The grasses waving in the gentle breeze.
An elongated triangular shawl, worked top-down, can be knit in any weight yarn, has a garter stitch body, eyelets and variations of Old Shale in the body and border edge.
Yarn
approx. yds/meters: Fingering 640-720 yds/575-650 m
2 skeins of fingering 400-440 yds
You may substitute yarn weight and needle size, overall size and yardage will vary.
For 2 color shawl the sample was knit in a heavier weight Briar Rose Fourth of July. The main body used 475 yards and 340 for CC, on size 7 needles.
Needles and Materials
6 US/4mm 32-40”, stitch marker, tapestry needle
7 US/4.5mm 32”-40”
Gauge
20 sts x 32 rows = 4” in garter stitch blocked, gauge is not crucial but will effect final size and yardage
Finished dimensions
27” center spine x 82” along top edge after blocking
