The Coat of Many Feathers ((with apologies to Dolly Parton) is the perfect three-season jacket: folded cuffs, oversized-collar for snuggling, and pockets to keep your hands warm. And the possibilities for color are endless: think gradient feathers, striped feathers, handspun, faded feathers, using-up-all-your-stash feathers, or even all-the-colors-of-the-rainbow feathers.

An open front cardigan/jacket, it uses two-color stranded knitting. It is oversized, designed to be worn with two to six inches of positive ease. It is worked from the bottom up, starting with the ribbing, then joined in the round, using steek stitches for the front. Pockets are worked into the garment, and the armholes are also steeked. The only seaming is at the shoulders. The collar stitches are picked up and knit in garter stitch.

The sample uses Magpie Fibers Nest Worsted for the MC and Spincycle Dream State for the CC, but almost any worsted weight yarns will work.
