Cocoa the Roo is super sweet and fun. She loves to jump and play but also loves to snuggle. Summertime is her favourite time of the year, there’s simply more hours of daylight to play!

Cocoa is an intermediate amigurumi (crochet) pattern written in English using US (American) terms. The pattern includes detailed instructions in an easy to follow layout but a knowledge of basic crochet stitches and techniques used to make amigurumi is essential.

Your tension, yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of your finished items. My Cocoa is approx. 17cm tall.

You will need:

  • 2.75mm hook/C-2 (US)
  • 8ply yarns/DK or Light Worsted, 50g in BROWN, less than 50g in remaining colours
  • BLACK embroidery thread or 4ply yarn
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle
  • Polyester toy stuffing
  • Stitch marker (optional)

Notes:

  • Amigurumi is usually stitched in the round and a yarn with no stretch is best.
  • Generally, the hook you use for amigurumi will be a smaller than for other crochet as you want the stitches tight.
  • I’ve used the following yarns: o PINK = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Col. 454 Blush Pink o TAN = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Col. 108 Light Caramel o BROWN = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Col. 410 Soft Fudge
  • I have embroidered the eyes but you may choose to use safety eyes. Please ensure that there are no loose fittings.
