The body of the jacket is composed of a main square each side of which is 24 inches long, made up of a combination of 30 square modules joined together.
The square is folded in half, and seams are sewn in to form the sleeve openings. The jacket is then finished off with a knitted border and two elongated cuff sleeves. All the embroidery is done in chain stitch, using cotton yarn.
This project pattern specifies: the materials required, a layout diagram indicating how the squares must be assembled together, plus instructions and crochet diagrams for each square module type. Instructions are also provided on how many modules are needed and the colour schemes for each round of the single modules.
The instructions herein are in UK terms, with US terms placed in brackets.
