I made this cocoon shrug for a friend who had her first baby. Since early matrescene is a particularly challenging time, I wanted to make her something that feels like a friendly embrace. Of course, you or your friends don’t have to be mothers to enjoy this beautiful Tunisian crochet design. Although it appears intricate, this pattern is suitable for advanced beginners, as it’s very repetitive. The piece is worked as a square and then folded into a diamond shape. The techniques used are extended Tunisian Simple Stitch and extended Tunisian Shell Stitch. Borders are made using double crochet (UK) and crab stitch (i.e. standard crochet).
