This pattern is a great alternative to using a sock knitting yarn set for a shawl instead of socks. You will need a 100g / 425m full skein of yarn and a 20g / 85m mini-skein,
Introducing the Coffee Date Shawl, your perfect companion for those cozy coffee shop moments. This asymmetric shawl is crafted to evoke the warmth and charm of your favourite café, using a full skein of sock yarn and a 20g mini-skein, or scraps of 4ply yarn if you want to have different coloured waves.
Starting at the tip, as the pattern grows columns are created using a simple stitch pattern of increases and decreases. The stitches start to shape into soft chevrons, creating beautiful fans of colour that are as varied and rich as a cup of specialty coffee. This makes it a great choice to showcase a variegated or colourful yarn.
As you approach the border, a contrast yarn is introduced to break up the columns, like a shot of cream swirling into your coffee. These contrast sections, worked over 4 rows, use ‘yo, k2tog’ lace stitches between rows of garter stitch, adding a touch of texture to the shawl. These stripes naturally follow the curves established in the columns.
Wrap yourself in the comfort and elegance of the Coffee Date Shawl, and let it be your go-to accessory for those cherished coffee moments, whether catching up with friends over a Cappuccino or sipping on a Flat White and quietly watching the world go by.
