I love nothing more than a timeless cardigan. There is something about a classic knit that makes every outfit look polished and pulled together. These sorts of knits are passed around families and last generations. They are used, reused, mended, and used some more. The buttons are replaced, the button-bands re-knit, elbows are patched, pockets are re-done. They start to have a life of their own. They remind us to reconnect with the objects that we use daily. There is beauty in the everyday.

This is what I had in mind when I designed “Coghlan Cottage” for my daughter. I wanted a versatile garment with a classic feel. What I ended up with was this fully reversible top-down cardigan. Each side has it’s own feel to it and inspires a completely different set of buttons, patches, and toggle.

Coghlan Cottage is knit top-down, with the button-band and collar picked up at the end. A series of short rows create a comfortable and flattering fit. This cardigan is designed to be completely reversible for two different (and timeless) looks. The simple textured stitch pattern has a classic style to both sides of it that I love. Coghlan Cardigan is finished with buttons, pockets, elbow patches, and a toggle to close up the shawl collar on particularly brisk days.

Coghlan Cottage is also available in Adult Sizes HERE.

Please note that the finished garment has 2 -2.5” of positive ease added.
