Give me some round, cushy merino and a few cables and I’m all set. This motif features elegant curves and a mix of texture that’s really fun to work.

For 2023, I’ve updated the yarn here as Shalimar is discontinued. The Farmer’s Daughter Fibers Recollect Worsted is an absolutely perfect substitue.

And now, I’ve ended up with 3 versions of this design!

Pom/Short Brim
For maximum cables, with just a bit of ribbing to set up the cable pattern, this version jumps right into the cables. Shown on Maya, knit in Shalimar Equus in Toast Points (tan and variegated creams).

Pom/Deep Brim
With less cabling and a deep rib at brim, this version feels more modern and is what I want to wear right now. Shown on Gabriella in Recollect Worsted in Bonsai (deep green).

Folded Brim
To show off the crown shaping, this one has a very squishy and snug vibe when worn. Shown on Maya knit in Shalimar Equus in Wisteria (variegated blues)

Sizes

Pom/Deep Rib version is 8.75”/22.25cm from cast on edge to center crown.
Pom/Short Rib is 9.25”/23.5cm to center crown.
Folded Brim is 9.75”/24.75cm unfolded, and fits snugly on the head when brim is folded back at about 2”/4cm.
