The Coleus Coat is a long beautiful flowing coat that could be worn for multiple occasions where either casual elegance or evening attire is important. Shirley created a very wide round collar made in the same twisted ribbing pattern that runs through the lacy stitch pattern, then trimmed it with a narrow border of the leaf motif from the stitch pattern. This was done to create a subtle body stitch pattern echo in the collar. This collar was added to give the piece a very feminine finish. The name came from the leaves in the stitch pattern, which reminded me of the coleus plant.
