This cosy, snuggly lap blanket is perfect for keeping your legs or shoulders warm, but is a good size to carry in the car with you or throw in a bag. It’s really easy and soothing to make even for beginner crocheters, and the subtle stripes are a great opportunity to play with colour.

The blanket uses two yarns held double - the main colour is DK and the contrast colour is lace weight mohair/silk. This creates a subtle blend of the two colours together, so think carefully about what you put together. A cream yarn as in the photos will show off the soft colours of Eldwick Lace; however anything any darker would mute those colours. For the most richly coloured stripes use DK that matches the mohair - you don’t have to use the same shade of DK throughout.

There is plenty of scope here to experiment and we would encourage you to do so! Additionally, this pattern does not currently include an edging for the blanket, however that might change in the future and there is nothing to stop you adding your own edging.

Materials
Each full pattern repeat uses 35g of Milburn DK and 8g of Eldwick Lace; you should get six full repeats out of a skein of Eldwick Lace, which would use 210g or five x 50g balls of Milburn DK.
Alternatively if you bought a pack of 10 x Milburn DK plus two skeins of each colour of Eldwick Lace you could do 12 repeats in total.
