College Tote
This bag design was formerly called “Graduation Tote.”
This is a tote that I designed as a gift for my daughter when she graduated from high school. She uses it all the time while away at college.
I used a size H hook because I wanted the stitches to be tight, although if you crochet tightly, you may wish to go up a size or two.
I have tried this pattern using a variety of yarn types, but I think that any wool in a self-striping pattern will bring the desired effect.
You may find that the finished dimensions will vary depending on how long you felt your bag, brand of wool used for the project, and tension.
Noro Kureyon felted to 14 1/2” wide X 14” high.
Soy Wool Stripes (SWS) felted to 14 1/2” wide X 14” high.
Ella Rae Classic (I used size I hook) felted to 13” wide X 11” high.
Paton’s Classic Wool felted to 11” wide X 13” high (but I felted it a bit longer than the others).
This bag would would make an excellent gift for someone who is in need of a large tote. It has plenty of room for books and necessities for any college student.
