The Color Block Ruana is a beginner friendly double knit loose fit Ruana. Ruanas are essentially a versatile blanket you can wear! They originated in the Andes mountains of South America, and the word means “Land of Blankets” in the native Chibcha language.

Ruanas fit a lot like a rectangular poncho, except that it is open in the front. You can throw one or both ends over the shoulders, to form a cowl-neck look; you can secure one shoulder with a pin, or just let it hang loose

This Ruana is worked entirely as a series of tubes and then seamed together with a ladder or mattress stitch.

This pattern is written so the ruana can be cozy with a loose fit. I provide guidelines/tips below to customize according to size preferences.

The Ruana consists of 3 sections consisting of 1 striped back panel, and 2 striped Front panels.

This Ruana is worked using only the 46 needle Addi King knitting machines.
Note that you can use the Sentro or Loops and Threads circular knitting machines in equivalent sizes to make this cardigan as well.
