A cascade of colors flows down this blanket. Pattern is perfect for beginning knitters who are ready to learn a new technique – intarsia. Project is also a great way to use scrap yarns.

I used aran weight yarns, both Paintbox Simply Aran and Stylecraft Special Aran. The wide section of each stripe (140 sts) uses just under 40g of yarn. The narrow section (70 sts) uses about 20g of yarn.

Any yarn can be used for this project; just adjust for the desired size and gauge.

I am not very fussy about selecting colors. The criteria I use are:
• Don’t place similar colors next to each other
• Aim to balance light and dark colors distributed throughout the blanket

Finished size using aran weight yarn: 50” (127cm) square. The pattern can be adapted to any size you like.
