The Colour Duo Jumper is the perfect pattern choice for when you can’t decide on what colour yarn to choose!

This jumper has been designed with an advanced beginner to intermediate knitter in mind. It will introduce you to basic knitting stitches, but also includes more techniques such as eyelet stitch, increases and garment construction. It’s made up of four knitted pieces (front, back and two sleeves), which are worked flat from bottom up and seamed together. It’s made with two colours – the front and one sleeve are knitted in one colour, and the back and other sleeve are knitted in another colour. The construction makes it fully reversible so you basically have two jumpers in one! This project would also make a great stash buster to use up all of those gorgeous yarn scraps in your stash. Simply hold your yarn on its own, or double (or triple), with matching or complimentary yarn whilst making sure you match gauge. The main rainbow sample is made with hand dyed yarns in a bulky merino, fingering suri alpaca and fingering slub held together. A more budget friendly option would be to use a commercial bulky weight yarn that matches gauge.

CONSTRUCTION
The Colour Duo Jumper is worked flat from bottom up using straight or circular knitting needles. The front and back are rectangular pieces knitted the same, but in different colours, and the sleeves are also knitted the same, but in different colours. All pieces are then seamed together with an allowance for how large or small you want your boatneck to be. The sleeves are knit flat from the cuff, gently increasing to accomodate for your upper arm. Try your Colour Duo Jumper on throughout construction to ensure your measurements are correct and it’s the perfect fit for you!

TECHNIQUES
Casting on, knitting, purling, stocking stitch, eyelet stitch, increasing, binding off, fastening off, seaming together, mattress stitch, whip stitch and weaving in ends. I suggest familiarising yourself with these techniques prior to casting on for this pattern. YouTube is your best source for tutorials on these techniques. VeryPink Knits and Purl Soho have some wonderful knitting help and basic technique tutorials on their YouTube channels.

SIZING
Finished Chest Circumference
Size 1 (XS): 79cm/31”
Size 2 (S): 89cm/35”
Size 3 (M): 99cm/39”“
Size 4 (L): 109cm/43”
Size 5 (XL): 119cm/46.75”
Size 6 (2XL): 130cm/51.25”
Size 7 (3XL): 140cm/55”
Size 8 (4XL): 150cm/59”
Size 9 (5XL): 160cm/63”

The measurements provided are a guide only. When measuring your chest, select a size that will give you 5cm/2” of positive ease (your chest measurement + 5cm/2”). Make your jumper in a larger size if you want a more generous fit, or in a smaller size for a more fitted version. This jumper has been written for one length, which is cropped. If you wish to make your jumper longer, you will need to decide what stitch pattern you wish to add and where. For an example, you could add an eyelet stitch pattern section at the start and end of the body pieces to add more length. When seaming the shoulders, make sure to leave an opening that will suit your head size, resulting in your preferred fit and style. The shoulder drop of your body may increase your sleeve length. Hold your knitted sleeve on your arm to measure until you’re happy with the length. If you would prefer a shorter sleeve, skip the last few rows, and for a longer sleeve, add a few extra rows in the stitch of your choosing.
