‘Come Along, Pond!’ is a semi-circular shawl knitted from the bottom edge-up.

The inspiration for this shawl came from a scarf worn by Amelia Pond, companion of the Eleventh Doctor in BBC’s Doctor Who. ‘Come Along, Pond!’ shares a bold lace pattern with the scarf featured in the series, as well as a rich red color – but of course, you don’t have to knit it in red. Nor do you need to be a proud Whovian to flaunt it – you do have to flaunt it, though.

What you’ll need:
Yarn: One skein of Tosh Merino Light (100% superwash merino, 420 yards per skein).
The shawl requires approx. 400 yards (366 m) of fingering yarn, preferably wool.
Needles: 6 mm (US 10) needles –preferably circular needles, though straights will do, too.
Notions: 8 stitch markers, a darning needle to weave in ends. Pins for blocking.

Difficulty: intermediate to advanced. You’ll have to work lace on both sides.

Gauge: 10 cm x 10 cm = 19 sts x 23 rows in stockinette stitch before blocking.
Please take time to check your gauge. As this shawl is knitted from the bottom edge-up, hitting the correct gauge will insure that one skein of TML will be enough to complete the project.

This pattern has been tested.

May, 8th, 2014 : the pattern has been updated to correct the typo in the first section of the charts (on row 25, the fourth stitch is a yo, not a k1 as it previously read).
