These rustic socks have a central cable on the front and back inspired by the double helix of the DNA molecule, and a pair of simple twists down each side.

Errata: The chart in Australian Knitting magazine has a mistake on line 24. The left part of the main cable should be a 6-st LC.

The key is also entirely wrong. Sigh. I need to go through it in detail to pin-point all the errors.

This is the correct chart. It is hand-drawn so it’s a bit messy, but at least it shouldn’t have errors. (If you find any errors, please let me know!)

Cable chart abbreviations are missing from the pattern as originally published. They should be as follows:

4-st LC: Slip 2 stitches to cable needle and hold in front, knit 2 stitches, knit 2 stitches from cable needle

4-st RC: Slip 2 stitches to cable needle and hold in back, knit 2 stitches, knit 2 stitches from cable needle

6-st LC: Slip 4 stitches to cable needle and hold in front, knit 2 stitches, knit 4 stitches from cable needle

6-st LPC: Slip 4 stitches to cable needle and hold in front, purl 2 stitches, knit 4 stitches from cable needle

6-st RC: Slip 2 stitches to cable needle and hold in back, knit 4 stitches, knit 2 stitches from cable needle

6-st RPC: Slip 2 stitches to cable needle and hold in back, knit 4 stitches, purl 2 stitches from cable needle

8-st LC: Slip 4 stitches to cable needle and hold in back, knit 4 stitches, knit 4 stitches from cable needle
