Coming in Hot: To arrive somewhere in an extremely epic fashion with much style and flair; almost to the point of being out of control.

Brioche is beautiful and it is everywhere- but what if you don’t brioche???

Designed for those who don’t quite have the time to pick up and practice the brioche technique, this shawl works panels of faux brioche also known as fisherman’s rib. This simple stitch has you working in the row below, no need to learn new abbreviations or stitches!

Select a palette of highly contrasting colors for a super graphic top-down garter stripe shawl. The combination of garter stitch and faux brioche elements make the perfect playground for beautiful speckled colorways.

Yarn: Baah La Jolla (100% Superwash Merino 400yards/115grams)

  • MC: Georgia Peach, 1 skein/400 yards
  • CC1: Pink Promise, 1 skein/400yards
  • CC2: California Coast, 1 skein/400yards

Need these exact colors???? Monsterknits has them right now!!!!

Needles: US 3/3.25mm, US 6/4mm 32” circular needles & US 7/4.5mm for bind off
Notions: 2 Stitch Markers, Tapestry needle, T-pins and blocking wires for blocking
Gauge: 14 stitches = 4 inches in Faux Brio stitch after blocking. Although gauge is not crucial for this project, it will affect the finished size and yarn requirements. A looser gauge will result in the use of more yarn.
Finished size: 82”x43” after blocking.

Bristol Ivy has done a great tutorial on how to rebuild columns of stitches in brioche and fisherman’s rib.

New techniques to try: slip, knit one below, purl one below, and purl I-cord bind off
